Boro set to take second biggest ever following to Old Trafford.

Middlesbrough fans have been given an extra 1,450 tickets for their Capital One Cup clash with Man Utd, at the end of this month. Boro have already sold 8,600 tickets and are expected to comfortably sell their extra allocation.

Boro will become only the second team to take more than 10,000 supporters to Old Trafford.

Coventry City took 11,500 up the M6, back in 2007, when Michael Mifsud scored twice for the Sky Blues, in a shock 2-0 victory.

    • Agreed, wasn’t the league cup game the midweek after we stuffed them 5-0 at Goodison, with 16000 travelling to Old Trafford? I think we won that 3-1?

  4. Back in the days when clubs had 25% for cup games a capacity of just under 60 k at OT would allow an away following of 14500. I went to see Everton in 1983 I think. I’d be surprised if Liverpool and Leeds eat didn’t take that away too.

  5. There are lies, damn lies…and statistics. I’m mightily impressed by Boro’s demand, and even more surprised that Coventry City, of all small town clubs, hold the record for the number of away fans at Old Trafford, but as mentioned above, when 25% of FA Cup games capacity went to away fans, these figures were exceeded on many occasions. In the 70s, United would take over whole towns!
